The Best Men's Watches Under $100

Six styles cover almost every man's wardrobe. For each one we name the watch to buy under $100, what it does well, and the alternative from Casio or Timex if you would rather have the bigger name.

A man buying one watch under $100 is usually buying it to wear with a particular kind of clothes, not to own a particular kind of movement. So rather than ranking the bracket from first to last, we have sorted it the way a wardrobe is sorted: by style. Each section names one watch to buy, explains the choice, and gives the established brand alternative where there is a good one. Prices are as listed on each brand's US website in October 2026.

The watches in this guide, ranked

Every watch this guide mentions, ranked by Value Score or by what one watch costs today with each store's current offer counted.

Integrated steel: the watch for everything

If you only own one watch, this is the style to own. A steel case flowing into a steel bracelet works with tailoring and with a hoodie, and it shrugs off the knocks of daily wear far better than leather. Under $100 our pick is the Lucky Fours Oceanus. Its octagonal bezel is held by visible screws, the dial is a blue checkered texture that changes tone as your wrist turns, and the bracelet tapers neatly from the case. It comes in 11 colorways, including a rose gold tone version with a pearl dial for men who want warmth rather than steel.

No established brand makes this style under $100. The nearest is the Timex Q Continental 39mm at $179, which we cover in the best watches under $200.

Dress: a thin watch for a shirt cuff

A dress watch has one job, which is to slide under a cuff and look tidy when it comes out. That means a simple dial, a modest case and either leather or a fine bracelet.

On leather, the Lucky Fours Atlas is the one with presence: a rounded octagonal case in rose gold tone, a white ribbed dial and a brown leather strap. It looks like an evening watch from a much older brand. The Noir, Emerald and Ocean colorways without the rose gold tone are easier to wear in daylight.

On steel, the honest recommendation is Casio. The Casio MTP1302D Dress Watch costs $89.95, measures 38.5mm and has a black sunburst dial with a date. Nothing about it shouts, which is exactly right for a dress watch, and it has been in Casio's catalog for years. If you want Roman numerals and a fine multi link bracelet instead, the Lucky Fours Nassau at $79.99 is the more traditional take. There is more on this style in the best dress watches under $100.

Chronograph: the sporty one

Subdials make a watch look busier and more technical, which suits casual clothes and bigger wrists. Under $100 you are choosing a look first, so pick the layout you like and check the listing for which subdials are functional.

We would buy the Lucky Fours Portfolio at $89.99: a white panda dial with black subdials, a black bezel and a brown leather strap. The leather tones it down so it works with a jacket, and the contrast dial is easy to read at a glance. If you want the same idea on a steel bracelet, the Zenith pairs a blue panda dial with steel for the same money. Casio's Edifice chronographs are the established alternative and are the better buy if you will actually time things, but they start above this budget; we compare them in our chronograph guide.

Field: the outdoor watch

This is Timex's ground and we would not argue with it. The Timex Expedition Scout 40mm at $95 has a 40mm case, a clean dial with both 12 and 24 hour numerals, a date and a fabric strap. Its arrow tipped seconds hand is a small detail that makes it look like a tool rather than a fashion piece. If you want a chronograph version of the field look, the Lucky Fours Shoreline puts a green dial on a green fabric strap for $89.99.

All black: the low key option

An all black watch hides scratches, disappears under a dark sleeve and looks deliberate with dark clothes. The Lucky Fours Aura at $79.99 is the minimal version: an octagonal case, black dial and black bracelet with nothing on the dial but hands and markers. If you want the integrated bracelet shape in black with a day and date, the Brone is the same price. For a sport digital in black, Timex's Timex Ironman Classic 30 at $87 is lighter, tougher and far more useful for running.

Automatic: for the man who wants a mechanism

Under $100 there is exactly one serious option here, the Lucky Fours Skeleton at $99.99, with an automatic movement visible through a blue open dial. It is covered in detail in our main watches under $100 guide; the short version is that it is a real automatic, so it needs wearing or winding, and the open dial is the reason to buy it.
